Yesterday my Dad, Grandpa Chuckles, left on the Greyhound to head back to Tucson. You won't believe how much someone is paying Penske to rent the same truck we did to drive it back to Tucson....$2400!!!! We paid just over $200 for the same exact trip!! I do not understand the moving truck industry! Word to the wise...book early and shop around. Dad and I started unpacking the truck the night we arrived and finished the next day. Ronnie, our neighbour, helped Dad with the really heavy boxes and the two sofas. Our house is surrounded in boxes. It may take a month to have everything back to normal again. I am very happy and feel very blessed for our new home. This enlisted duplex on this army base is so much bigger than the officer apt we lived in on the army base in Germany. Plus we have an extra room and bathroom. It really doesn't make sense, but hey! I am NOT complaining! There is a lot of storage, but we will have to buy some bookshelves...lots of them....soon!
So far the only thing I have gotten unpacked today is our computer. But we have had a very productive day. Ronan and I were up before the trumpet played at 0700. We got dressed and took a very long walk around the neighbourhood. We ended up at the PX where they were having a huge sidewalk sale. We didn't bring the car and luckily Ronan wanted to go home to eat. When he was done we got in the car and went to the commissary for groceries. Before we got back home we gave the USMC twenty dollars to wash our very dirty car. Ronan really liked being inside the car for the car wash.
There are a lot of animals here. There are tons of deer and raccoons on persidio. This morning we saw three wild turkeys in a neighbour's yard! Being here on an army installation with lots of loud and huge black crows, makes me think of the Stand. Is that wierd?
Hopefully I can get some unpacking done...but if Ronan isn't sleeping hes wanting me to play with him or feed him. We want to get a lot done before Daddy comes home. He has a lot on his plate with work, so we want him to not have to worry about unpacking. We are going to get chinese for dinner for us and meet him on base tonight. Hopefully he will get to phase up on Monday or Tuesday. On Wednesday Uncle Eric comes and Ronan is very excited!
I just can't wait to be able to scrapbook and knit again. It will be a while....
