Today is a three day weekend in England as it is a Bank Holiday Monday. A perk of living the expat life in the UK. While my husband and I take it easy today (really worked our muscles yesterday on a 5 hour kayaking trip on the canals and rivers in Bath, England) I wanted to surprise you all with a sneak from our Vow Renewal in Wales. I did end up wearing my original wedding gown for my 10th Wedding Anniversary. I took out the zipper in the back, sewed in loops, and laced the dress up with ribbon.
My head piece is something I bought while living in Hawaii for one of my fashion concept photo shoots. I snagged a whole bunch of props before we left for Wales not sure what we would use or not. I put this on just to play around with the look and everyone really loved it, so it stayed on. It was nice having a bit of home in Hawaii with us on our Vow Renwal day. I am pictured here at Portmeirion, Wales by my photographer husband who took a few shots while we were waiting for our party. It was so rewarding being able to wear the same dress again, ten years later, to say new vows to my husband. Even more special to do so with our intimate group of family and friends.

ReplyDeleteThank you Anda! I'm definitely glad we saved it. I'd like to make it into a baby dress and blanket for a newborn next so I can pass a bit of it down through the generations. x

ReplyDeleteWhat a breath-taking photo! You look beautiful - kind of whimsical :) <3
ReplyDeleteYou look great!!! And I'm so happy you were able to wear your dress again--I remember your blog posts when it was causing some problems. I've been putting my dress back on for anniversary pictures every year so far....we'll see how long we can keep that tradition up!
ReplyDeleteI really want to wear my Mom's gown. It was so beautiful! I love your head piece, it really makes the ensemble!

ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful! Happy 10th anniversary! We just celebrated ours as well. :o)
ReplyDeleteThis makes me want to take my wedding dress out of the protective packaging and try it on! I think my mom would kill me, though - she paid a pretty penny to have it preserved for me!
You looks absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed your weekend!
You look stunning! I would absolutely wear my dress again. I think a few of my girl friends and I are talking about doing a shoot with all of us in our dresses so we have an opportunity to wear them again soon! :)
ReplyDeleteYour dress is gorgeous! You look so beautiful! xx
ReplyDeleteWow! You looked absolutely stunning, Bonnie! Very ethereal. Congratulations again!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful idea! I had my wedding reception a few weeks after my family-only destination wedding- so I got to wear my dress twice! I would absolutely love to wear it again though!
ReplyDeleteI love your dress, it's so pretty! I never had a wedding dress, so when my husband and I renew our vows we're going to do a proper wedding then.

You and your fabulous dress look absolutely beautiful! All your beautiful posts have me wishing we could do a vow renewal, but we're still newlyweds! I don't have my dress anymore, though - I actually got my dress through Brides Across America, a charity that gives (!!!) designer dresses to military brides, so after the wedding, I had it professionally cleaned and donated it back. We called my dress my "something borrowed." Even though I didn't have to donate it back, it just felt right.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! You look like a princess!!!
ReplyDeleteA great photo and I would love to wear my dress again but it is all the way in California!
ReplyDeleteYou looked soo stunning on your vow renewal and i love that you used your wedding dress!! So special!
ReplyDeleteI definitely would wear my wedding dress again!! I wore 'SweetPea' by Ivy and Aster and it it soooo perfect! I've actually been thinking of cutting the train and making it a ball gown and over the years shortening it to a tea length, then a short dress. I'm not sure i'll have the guts to do it but it's a fun idea my godmother gave me.
BEYOND GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour hairpiece is a lovely touch. You look like you should be frolicking about in A Midsummer Night's Dream :)
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a dress (not married) so I can't answer your question, to be honest I'm probably one of only a few women who never thought of what her dress would look like!
Thank you Chelsea! I loved that I could tie in so many aspects. I brought in key pieces from ten years ago just to have in our common room. x
ReplyDeleteThank you Erica! I cannot wait to get back the wedding photos to show you too, i havent seen them yet so it will be fun to share!
ReplyDeleteThank you sweet Rachel! Yes, sadly the zipper had to go, but glad to be able to get it on and fitting still after ten years. :) I love it and I hope you keep that tradition, do it every year babette! x
ReplyDeleteOh that would be so sweet! I love that!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Laura! Means so much! x
ReplyDeleteThank you Louisa! Its crazy to see that ten years have gone by so fast! x
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarah on both accounts! Happy anniversary to you guys too! that is so wonderful!!! haha, yeah my parents paid for that too. I will say having taken it out, the people who did mine did not do a great job. :/ My veil was pretty in one area, and the rest was wadded up. Then they put this double sided sticky tape from the bodice to the form that keeps the bust shape, and the tape would not come off my fabric. Its actually still there. :(
ReplyDeleteThank you and I so had a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you Madi Oh if you do, and you guys take photos, let me know! I love wedding posts like that.
ReplyDeleteThank you Amanda! I felt beautiful. x
ReplyDeleteThank you sweet Kayli!
ReplyDeleteOh thats awesome you got to wear your dress twice Lauren! You should if you can! x
ReplyDeleteI love that! I've heard about things like that and think that is such a great way to do military weddings! How awesome that it was your something borrowed. I think that is so special! I dont think I will wear my dress again. I'd like to take it apart and make 'baby items' like a christening dress and a blanket that I can pass down through the generations.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kelly, i felt like a princes..oh and a little girl told me I was a princess who walked past us with her mum. ;)
ReplyDeleteWell at least it is somewhere safe! I'm surprised mine has made it this far with six moves including an overseas and from cali to Hawaii and back to the mainland.
ReplyDeleteIt was so great to be able to wear it again. I think its the last time as I would love to use the fabric to make baby items we can pass down in our family. Oh that is a great idea about modifiying yours too! I would totally do that! x
ReplyDeleteThank you Andi, i felt gorgeous and glad i go to wear it again. x
ReplyDeleteThank you, something special from Hawaii that I got to wear on the day. hahah, i totally thought that when I put it on initially. x
ReplyDeleteTo tell you the truth I never really thought about it either until I got engaged. :) x
ReplyDeleteThat's awful!! Now I'll probably never open up my box just in case I end up disappointed! Better that the dress stays in the box where I can go on thinking it still looks as perfect as the day I wore it! ;o)
