Full day at the CDC
We arrived at the CDC today a few minutes before 0830. I dropped Ronan off at the hourly room and went to the room I was directed to, for training. Two other moms were in there with their 7 and 9 month old babies. I asked how old they were and about 3 minutes later I was out of the room to rescue Ronan. When I had handed him to the daycare worker and started filling out his chart on the board, he gave me the saddest face. He looked at me and gave me the biggest lip and started crying. I wanted to die... Not really, but I felt horrible. So taking Ronan back in the other room with me made me feel really good. For the first part, he did really well. I even got him to go down for a nap in a bouncer chair after he fell asleep on my shoulder. I was able to get some formula from the infant room when he woke up to feed him some lunch. Which was a good thing too because I am pretty sure I am not producing any more milk for Ronan. We came home for our hour lunch. Which really turned out to be fourty minutes after you take the 10 minutes there and back out of the equation. I fixed two bottles of water and brought along some formula to mix in later. I was able to grab a blanket, toys, and fruit puffs for the second portion. I didn't bring them earlier because I didn't think he would be with me. It was hard trying to convince Ronan that a diaper could be a fun toy and not my papers. It was nice to have a break and be back in our house for lunch though. When I was walking to my car I thought to myself, "It is going to be a LONG week!" Ronan was really good through the second half too. He drank 7 of 8 oz. of formula while sitting in the bouncer seat, until he passed out. He looked so cute holding the bottle (still in his mouth) as he slept. He was an excellent sharer today too. He shared some fruit puffs with the 9 month old boy and they both played with some toys together. After his second bottle for the afternoon, Ronan let out a very loud belch. He got a lot of compliments for that one. He had fun catching the attention of one of our instructors. He played back with Ronan and he tickled Ronan's toes! This made Ronan smile! It took awhile to find the car keys because they had fallen to the bottom of the bag I brought. I had that, a backpack, Ronan, Ronan's pooh blanket, and a stack full of papers. Somehow we made it to the car without dropping anything. Back at home Ronan watched his Baby Einstein and had some more fruit puffs. All in all the rest of the night was pretty good. Ronan went to bed soon after Ryan got home. He was so tired that he went to sleep as soon as his head touched the mattress. He was out for the night. Who could blame him...he had such a big day!
