Cold and Hot

This morning Ronan wore his new footie pjs over our cloth diapers that I found in a box of newborn clothes from my parents house. I put him in the stroller and bundled him up with blankets, a hat, and a scarf. All you could see of Ronan were his eyes and his little nose. When we got outside, it was FREEZING. It felt like we should be snowboarding down the hill from our house. The sky was very white and cloudy. Because of the weather, there were not very many mummies and children out for their walks today. We ended up not going very far at all. Ronan was crying and I knew he was probably not liking the coldness. I was pretty beat and decided it was better to just walk home. We took a very slow and leisurely walk back, taking the "scenic" route. I gave Ronan his bottle to drink on the way home to keep him warm.

As soon as we got back we went inside to grab a few items. Then it was time to get in the car, head to Marina and go to the bank. After taking a right (instead of a left) I headed to Salinas instead. A few minutes of backtracking, we made it to the bank. We got back and I made Ronan his bottles and some sandwiches for me. We got into the car again and headed to playgroup. Ronan decided his toys were not as fun as dirt. No matter how much I tried to discourage him, move him farther away, or put toys closer to him, he found a way to grab the dirt. He would lean further and further over and then stretch his arm out as far as he could and scrape his fingers into the dirt. I even caught him eating some. He's 8 months old! Don't get me wrong, I wasn't getting upset with him. I just wasn't expecting this until later. At least until he could walk! He knew that was what he wanted to play with. I had to keep cleaning his hands with baby wipes, but not even those could get the dirt out from under his nails. You should have seen the dirt that was on his face and mouth! Silly, silly, silly baby! So back to playgroup. By the time we got to the playground it had gotten really hot. And by really hot I mean REALLY HOT! So I had to take Ronan out of his footie pjs and rub on baby sunscreen. He kept fighting with me about wearing his hat. But I was not going to let up on that one. The sun was also very bright and kept getting in his eyes. What am I saying...There is NO SHADE! I really wish I could invest in a big umbrella that can go into the ground. It is really needed. We tried swinging together, but finally I decided it was just time to leave.

We didn't have much time until Parents Place at 1200. So we drove to the PX instead of home. We walked around and browsed the scrapbooking magazines and the scrapbooking supplies. It seems like forever since I've scrapbooked in Ronan's scrapbook. As we left for the next playgroup, Ronan was already showing signs of wearing down. We got to playgroup and Ronan was hungry. I prepared the bottle and let him eat while Parent's Place started. Ronan had a fun time meeting the other babies again. He seemed really interested. The baby next to me was REALLY interested in Ronan. She kept crawling to him and touching him. When we were doing the parachute song, she kept getting on top of him! Whoa baby! Ronan really enjoyed all the songs and the parachute. This is probably his favourite time of the week. Next week they are meeting at a park, so we are very excited about that.

When we got home I opened Ronan's car door and he was passed out. He didn't even wake up when I got him out of the carseat. I put him on my shoulder and stayed asleep. I laid him down in his bed and he leaned his head to the side and kept on sleeping.

He woke up, ate, and then Ryan came home shortly after. From then on until we got him to bed, he was very fussy. But he did only get one nap in today. He talked a lot in his room until he finally went to sleep. Goodnight baby!

NOTE: The size foot pjs Ronan is wearing now is 12 months and they fit him JUST right. As for other clothes he wears between a 9 -18 month clothes, depending on what they are. Sometimes I put too big of clothes on him, and its okay. Anyways, there is the sizing information for all the grandparents who have been asking.
